A panel of medical and nutrition experts has proposed a consensus statement outlining recommended nutrition competencies for medical students and physician trainees. This is a major step forward in improving nutrition education in medical schools and addressing the growing burden of diet-related diseases. The study's lead author is David Eisenberg, adjunct associate professor of nutrition and director of culinary nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Long overdue legislation just passed by California simplifies the ridiculous 50 different date labels on packages, almost every one of them for the convenience of manufacturers and not consumers. As of July 2026 packages will say only "Best if used by" or "Use by"--good streamlining, if language that's still a bit too alike. Companies tailoring to the huge Calif market will likely use the same system nationwide--great. Representative Chellie Pingree and ReFED and Harvard Law School Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation and others blazed the trail. https://lnkd.in/ev3xvy3c
