What an amazing week. I had the pleasure of hosting my mentor and friend US Ambassador to Panama, Mari Carmen Aponte at Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School It was exciting to have Ambassador Aponte as the inaugural speaker of the Diplomatic Dialogue moderated by former U.S. Ambassador to Norway, Barry White. As always, Ambassador Aponte did not disappoint the crowd of undergraduate and graduate students. She worked her magic making the students tackle complex issues, laugh a little, but always challenge their understanding and knowledge, and inspired them to serve their country. She was such a hit with the students that some of them became her security detail. If you know Ambassador Aponte, you know she will always find a way to build bridges and create a sense of shared community. The students could not get enough, and after 4 back-to-back events we ended our evening with U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who just happened to be speaking at the school. What an amazing day to be inspired and excited about the future-- whether you are a young person, or young at heart, this is a time to stay in the arena and learn, grow and find purpose. Thank you Harvard Iop for making this event such an amazing success. Huge shout out to Cathey Park and Saswato Ray for making this all happen.
