It’s okay to pause, to return, and to start again.
When I was 10, I began learning to play the piano. For 2 years, I went to music school after my day school, but eventually became exhausted and stopped.
It took me 15 years to find my way back to the keys. At first I played the only piece I could remember at every public piano nearby.
Gradually I self-taught myself how to read notes again and play different pieces.
Somehow, the piano has now become a place where I find relaxed focus, that keeps me grounded and helps me nurture my creativity.
On this #WorldMentalHealthDay, I wanted to share this piece of my mental health puzzle.
It's really a puzzle (example; I'm still trying to forgive myself for dropping piano in the first place, thinking about what could have been etc).
This year is extra special, as I join Harvard Alumni for Mental Health as an Ambassador.
I'm so excited to look for creative ways to support and share, because your mental health matters. (PS; should I compose a music piece on the theme?)
