First international schools sports competition complete ?? ? This year marks the first time Hartland International School have entered two age groups into the BSME - British Schools in the Middle East Games. I’m very proud to be associated with such a great PE team continually striving to improve. Thank you to Park House English School for hosting the U15 tournament. Next weekend, our U13 teams will be competing in BSME Blue Games.

This week, our sixth form students, led by Oscar, drove an initiative to focus on mens mental health at Hartland International School. As a topic that is not spoken of as loudly as might be, raising awareness is crucial to our overall health and wellbeing and I am incredibly proud of our students for taking a lead in this campaign. The 53rd UAE National Day celebration at Hartland International School was an extraordinary event led passionately by the students. The day featured various engaging activities alongside an exhibition showcasing the rich culture and traditions of the UAE. A highlight of the event was the presence of Emirati author Zahra Al Darwish as a guest of honor. She inspired students by speaking about the importance of reaching their full potential and shared her own journey of achieving success. Although we are getting better at recognising and talking about men's mental health, we still aren't great at doing. However, every so often you get a reminder that a small gesture or idea can have big impact. One of our new students put together a staff vs sixth form football game to raise awareness about the importance of men's mental health yesterday. At 3.30pm, we finished a meeting early, swapped suits for shorts and had a great laugh together. Being a terrible footballer, I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed myself once we got started. Hours later, I'm still on a high from it - the game itself wasn't important, neither was the result. Being thought of was important Being remembered was important Feeling part of something was important An opportunity to have a laugh with mates was important Take a minute to check on a mate and let them know you are thinking of them. It's important. Thanks also to ex international rugby players Gareth Widdop, Nili Latu, Bruce Reihana and Sione Vatuvei for lending some support from the 100 World Legends. #mentalhealth #awareness #sport
