As National LGBTQ Health Awareness Week winds down, let's chat about SOGI data. What is it? ?? SOGI data is information collected about a person's Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. Why it's important: ?? It helps us understand and address health disparities within LGBTQIA2+ communities, ensuring equitable healthcare and promoting inclusivity. Understanding the specific needs of these communities helps healthcare providers tailor services and care to be more welcoming and effective. SOGI data is also crucial for conducting research (which the industry needs more of) and advocating for policies that protect the rights and health of LGBTQIA2+ individuals. At Hartgrove Behavioral Health System, we make sure ALL our patients feel validated and supported. #LGBTQHAW25 #SDOH #HealthEquity

The shirt says it all: social work is her jam! ?? That's our Director of Social Services, Sabrina Perrino, who's been with Hartgrove Behavioral Health System since she started as an intern in 2016. She has her Master's in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health, and she's held several positions over the years, including Inpatient Social Worker, Acute Adult Social Work Supervisor and Assistant Director of Social Services. Her mom also worked in inpatient behavioral health, and Sabrina always knew she wanted to help people. "Once I began working with individuals at this level of care, seeing the progress and the resilience of our patients firsthand – getting to be a part of that is an honor. I believe in the treatment we provide at Hartgrove. Therapy is so valuable if you open yourself up to it." Sabrina leads a very dedicated team here, and her advice to new social workers entering the field is to keep going and keep helping because the world needs social workers now more than ever. #SocialWorkMonth #SocialWorkers #SocialWork

National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week is an annual health observance that encourages conversation about the science of drug use and addiction among youth, and we're using it as an opportunity to talk about teens and prescription drugs. After marijuana and alcohol, prescription pain relievers, anti-anxiety meds and stimulants are the most commonly misused substances among teens. Taking them without a doctor's supervision can lead to dependency, overdose and long-term mental health issues. Education is key in helping teens understand the science and risks, so be open to talking with your teen about substance use and be an active part of their support system. It's National LGBTQ Health Awareness Week, and this week's theme is Health Equity NOW! This marks an urgent call to action for better healthcare access and outcomes for the LGBTQIA2+ community. That includes mental health, and we remain committed to protecting vital services for our most vulnerable communities. LGBTQIA2+ individuals are disproportionately affected by mental health issues, and they often face barriers to accessing culturally competent care. Let's work to break down those barriers together. ?? #LGBTQHAW25 #HealthEquity #MentalHealth
