We're proud to announce that Dr. Amir Masoud and Dr. Mayra Sanchez, Hartford HealthCare's Co-Medical Directors of Neurogastroenterology and Motility, were recently published as co-authors in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology on a groundbreaking multi-center study validating the Atmo Capsule for gastrointestinal transit assessment! The study demonstrated that the Atmo Capsule provides reliable measurements equivalent to the reference standard wireless motility capsule with strong correlation and good device agreement for detecting delayed gastric emptying and colonic transit times. ? Special recognition to Mariana Nigro, PhD, who served as our study coordinator and whose dedication was instrumental in ensuring the success of HHC's contribution to this important research. ? This advancement offers patients and clinicians a validated alternative method for evaluating gastrointestinal transit, which can help facilitate diagnosis of motility disorders including gastroparesis and chronic constipation. ? Congratulations to our Hartford HealthCare Tallwood researchers on their newly published study in Urology! ? Our team, including Dr. Joseph Wagner, Dr. Dylan Buller, Dr. Stuart Kesler, Joseph Tortora, Tara McLaughlin Proto, and colleagues, conducted important research comparing two different approaches to prostate cancer biopsy techniques: the PrecisionPoint Transperineal Access System versus traditional grid template. ? Key findings from this comprehensive study of 890 patients: ? -Both techniques showed similar cancer detection rates -Complication rates were comparable between the two approaches -The techniques performed equally well in detecting anterior prostate lesions -The study provides valuable data to help optimize prostate biopsy procedures ? This research adds to our understanding of prostate cancer detection methods and helps inform best practices in urologic care.
