Camp Curtin Branch YMCA was the place to be this weekend! ?? The Holiday Youth Health Fair event featured educational resources from the Regional PA Tobacco-Free Coalition, PACT, TRU, PA Department of Health, and American Lung Association in PA.???Thank you to State Representatives David Madsen, Justin Fleming & Patty Kim?and to the Chris ‘Handles’ Franklin Foundation for putting together this amazing event!

On Tuesday, The Harrisburg Area YMCA held its 170th Annual Meeting. At the meeting, our YMCA Center for Healthy Living Team celebrated our Staff of the Year, Ryan Long alongside our Volunteer of the Year, Arletta Shenfeld. Thank you to Ryan and Arletta for your time and commitment to our Y vision and mission. We are looking forward to another year of serving our local and surrounding communities!

The Harrisburg Area YMCA is so excited to welcome our newest staff member, Olivia Cannone, MPH, CHES! Olivia will serve as our Director of Development for the association ?? Olivia began her career with the YMCA in 2021 with the YMCA of Central Ohio as a Wellness Director. Her various responsibilities included developing personal training and group ex programs, re-introducing evidence-based health intervention (EBHI) programs, and connecting with community and clinical partners. Olivia also served as a Branch Champion with her association's Annual Campaign, where she was able to actively engage with others to donate. She played a key role in supporting the Y's mission to provide community programs and services to people of all ages and backgrounds. Olivia holds her masters degree in public health and bachelors in health & physical education from Slippery Rock University. When Olivia is not at the Y, she enjoys reading and hanging out with her husband and their three dogs. Welcome to the Harrisburg Area YMCA, Olivia! ??

Last night was a dream only made possible by our community and incredible donors. Our 170th Annual Meeting was held at the Hilton Harrisburg Hotel, where we enjoyed each other's company, delicious food, and meaningful words from our leadership and volunteers! Congratulations to our 2024 Volunteers and Staff of the Year. The most memorable portion of the evening is due to Jeannie Zappe – Jeannie was awarded the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming at age 56 and regularly trains at our very own West Shore Branch YMCA. Jeannie is truly an inspiration, reminding us the true power of saying "yes" to life's opportunities. Thank you to all who made this evening possible, including our Presenting Sponsor Mid Penn Bank ?? Our 171st is on the horizon, and we're not slowing down. #ForABetterUs

We couldn't ask for a better finale to a terrific year of #hbgyrun events! Thank you to ALL who came out, supported, ran, and celebrated with us for yesterday's Enders YMCA Harrisburg Marathon, Half, and Relay ?? Thank you to Enders and Donegal Insurance Group for making it all possible. This year proved to be challenging, with city construction, last-minute changes, and course adjustments. Fortunately for us, we have an amazing community with us through it all, cheering on our runners and supporting the Y every day. As the winter months grow closer the 24-25 Low Income Home Energy Assistances Program (LIHEAP) application opens on Monday, which helps qualified Pennsylvanians pay their home heating bills during the winter months. ?? On Wednesday, Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Secretary Valerie Arkoosh, MD, MPH and Pennsylvania Public Utility (PUC) Chairman Stephen DeFrank visited the Camp Curtin Branch YMCA and The Harrisburg Area Food Pantry to announce the opening of the application. Congratulations to the Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool Youth Development Network (PSAYDN) on celebrating 20 years of impact!?Today members of the Harrisburg Area YMCA staff and participants of the Camp Curtin Y Achievers program joined in the celebration held at the PA State Capital, advocating for out-of-school program funding and importance. #InspireLearning
