Last week, Josh Harris spoke at Harvard Undergraduate Sports Lab's conference, joined by Marjorie Harris and Thomas Harris in the audience! Josh shared insights into his leadership philosophy across his sports franchises and underscored the power of stewardship. In his words, “Investing in our teams isn’t just about winning games; it’s about bringing people together and creating lasting memories. When we put our resources behind not only building strong teams but also fostering vibrant, engaged and equitable communities, we’re creating a foundation for long-term impact, both on and off the field, court or ice.” At Harris Philanthropies, we’re proud to help advance that mission. In early September, we were deeply honored to have Marjorie Harris and Josh Harris recognized at the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum’s inaugural gala. It was a privilege to be part of such an inspiring event and share our passion for celebrating Jewish history and tradition, and our love for Israel. Thank you to the Museum for creating a space that honors the history and stories of life in our capital city and fosters a sense of connection, belonging, and pride, especially during such challenging times. This celebration was particularly meaningful given our deep connection to the DMV – we are proud to leverage the power of the Washington Commanders platform to continue to support and uplift the local community. We look forward to continuing to engage with the D.C. Jewish community in the years to come.

A great example of how partnering with like-minded organizations like Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System allows Harris Philanthropies to catalyze positive change in the communities where we have a deep connection. We recently partnered with the Penn Athletics Wharton Leadership Academy (PAWLA) to host over 50 student-athletes from the University of Pennsylvania at a Philadelphia 76ers game. PAWLA was founded through a partnership between Penn Athletics and Wharton, to cultivate the leadership capabilities of student-athletes and expand the ways they can have a positive impact on the world. At Harris Philanthropies, we believe in the power of sports to lift kids and communities. It was exciting to spend time with these impressive young student-athletes, and provide them the opportunity to see elite NBA athletes up close, and observe the discipline and teamwork that define professional sports. We believe creating environments where young talent can learn is crucial in developing the next generation of leaders – and we’re grateful to work with like-minded organizations like PAWLA to make these impactful moments happen.?

At Harris Philanthropies, an important focus of our mission is partnering with great organizations with great leadership, who share our values and commitment to transforming lives through sports. Josh Harris and Marjorie Harris recently visited our colleagues at Crystal Palace Football Club with Steve Parish and spent time with the Palace for Life Foundation – the official charity of the club, that supports over 15,000 people in the South London community each year. We’re proud to deepen our partnership with Palace for Life in supporting their “Game On” program, which goes beyond football to help provide youth with professional mentorship, lifelong skills, and a path to career opportunities that creates a ripple effect for families and the local community.
