After Maria Duarte had a routine mammogram come back clear, the next month she felt a lump in her breast. Duarte didn’t get it checked for nearly four months when she started noticing a difference in the skin. After a mammogram and ultrasound, she was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. Why learn hands-on CPR? When a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately receiving CPR from someone nearby. According to the American Heart Association, about 90 percent of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die. CPR, especially if performed immediately, can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim's chance of survival. Join Harris Health for World Restart a Heart Day on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
