Child welfare board members from across Texas, including board members and staff from Harris County Resources for Children and Adults, spent the day at the State Capitol meeting with legislators. We discussed important issues affecting children and families involved in the child welfare system and advocating for policies that support their well-being. Thanks to the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards for organizing Child Advocacy Day at the Capitol.??

We would like to highlight Twyla Lee, Community Youth Services work Aldine ISD ---- your dedication and hard work are truly inspiring. Keep making a difference in the lives of students and the community! Aldine ISD ’s Guidance, Counseling, and Student Support Services is championing student well-being through its Transition Office. The department has taken a proactive step in establishing a food pantry explicitly designed for students experiencing homelessness. The program aims to secure ongoing partnerships and funding to keep the pantry well-stocked and operational now and in the future. Staff members from across the district pick up prepared food boxes and give them to the students in need. This initiative has made a significant difference in the lives of many students, 91 and growing, providing them with a sense of security and stability. Community Youth Services (CYS), a program of Harris County Resources, is a school-based crisis intervention and case coordination program available in 14 school districts in Harris County providing assistance to youth and their families to manage and overcome challenges they may be experiencing in school, at home and in the community. CYS aims to make a difference in the lives of our youth.
