What happens when you combine NFPA 652, NFPA 61, NFPA 484, NFPA 655, NFPA 664, and NFPA 654? Well of course you get the brand new NFPA 660 "Standard for Combustible Dusts and Particulate Solids" (issued by the NFPA Standards Council with an effective date of December 6, 2024). Next question: How do you make sense of all this? Answer: Attend Session 2B at the 21st annual Atlanta Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) Fire Safety Conference & Expo, March 11-12, 2025, at the Gas South District, Duluth, Georgia. In this session, Robert McFeaters, P.E. of the Harrington Group, Inc. will present "One Code to Rule Them All – Combustible Dusts and NFPA 660" NFPA 660 is a new combustible dust standard that streamlines the applicable codes and standards around combustible dusts. The presentation will summarize the existing codes and standards and highlight the major differences and changes in the new standard. In addition to the above, attendees will be given a basic summary of combustible dusts, industries impacted by the new standard, and general requirements for facilities that handle combustible dusts or particulate solids. The presentation will also review what a dust hazard analysis is and when it is or is not required. This presentation will be one of 20 fantastic sessions. Come check it out!
