Happy Mother’s Day!!! Let’s not forget the critical role women, particularly mothers, play in shaping an equitable built environment. #advancedairmobility #mobility #aviation #aam #aaminfrastructure #transportation #equity #diversity
?? Let’s discuss the underappreciated role of women, particularly mothers, as it relates to the healthy integration of #advancedairmobility into communities as an equitable complement to our land use and transportation strategies. ?? Historically, many indigenous societies have revered the voices of #women, particularly #mothers, for their deep-rooted wisdom and critical perspectives on land and community. In these cultures, women were the primary decision-makers in matters relating to land management and community affairs, demonstrating a model of inclusivity and respect. Even in matters of conflict, women decided whether to send their children into battle. ??? Yet, today, the contributions of women and mothers are often marginalized. This underrepresentation in #planning impacts the functionality and inclusiveness of our cities. Inés Sánchez de Madariaga, a leading voice in urban planning, emphasizes the need to consider the diverse routines and #mobility patterns of women. Her work teaches us that planning which overlooks these aspects fails to serve not only women but also children effectively, thereby affecting more than half the population. By adopting a more inclusive approach, as advocated by Sánchez de Madariaga, we can create urban environments that truly cater to all, paving the way for a more equitable future. ?? This Mother’s Day, we must commit to honor and integrate the invaluable perspectives of women in urban planning as we embrace advanced air mobility. People struggle with the concept of aviation being more equitable because historically, the industry’s visions have inherently lacked equity. ??We need more diverse voices shaping the future of aviation. Let’s design our next generation of urban spaces, complemented by #AAM, with everyone in mind and advocate for a more inclusive approach to urban development and #transportation. #UrbanPlanning #MothersDay #InclusiveDesign #SustainableCities #aviation (This is the balloon that my goofy kids bought for Mother’s Day)
