Meet our Scholars! The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation is thrilled to highlight 2024-2025 Scholar Shavon N. Edwards! Shavon attends Roosevelt University in Chicago where she is a Master of Science in Real Estate student. She hails from Detroit and earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Law & Policy from the?University of Michigan. Shavon has work experience across public and private sector consulting, public affairs, technology, and business. In 2021, she brought her talents to Chicago and over the last few years she has worked in the intersection of private equity and commercial real estate which is what led her to pursue her MSRE. While Shavon has very ambitious and varied interests in commercial real estate, she wants to continue diversifying her skill set within the industry and long term go into international real estate development. She would like to give a special thanks to Collete English Dixon, Executive Director of the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate for nominating her to this program.

As part of our spotlight on 25 years of the Eisenberg Foundation, we are highlighting our Mentor Program! Our Mentor Program offers students the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an industry leader for a full-day, in-person, immersive experience. Our team of more than 100 volunteer mentors are industry leaders from a variety of real estate disciplines. Students have the opportunity to observe meetings, ask questions and/or visit project sites. We also offer career counseling, a one-hour discussion with one of our mentors (offered virtually or in-person). The Mentor Program was founded by Al Klairmont in 2000. Under his leadership and with the support of hundreds of mentors, the Foundation has scheduled more than 1,900 mentorships and counseling sessions, averaging 2-3 each week. In partnership with Embarc, The Jack Drogosz Foundation and Wintrust Financial Corporation, the Eisenberg Foundation hosted our fall Level Program journey! The event welcomed juniors and seniors from Bogan High School to tour the United Center and to learn more about the proposed 1901 Project. Immediately following, the students enjoyed lunch with real?estate industry?professionals at Lola’s Restaurant. Embarc is committed to transforming the lives of low-income students by providing community-driven, experience-based learning opportunities that inspire and prepare them for college and career success. The Eisenberg Foundation's partnership with Embarc helps give young people hands-on experiences in the working world of real estate.
