This month we will celebrate National Caregivers Day. With that in mind our fantastic clinical staff wrote up a few top for self-care as we approach Valentine' Day. ______________________________________________________________ ???Valentine’s Day Self-Care for Caregivers??? Finding Joy & Reducing Stress in Your Daily Routine Caring for someone with dementia is an act of love, but it can also be overwhelming. This Valentine’s Day, show yourself some compassion with these five simple tips to reduce stress and find joy in your caregiving journey. ???1. Prioritize Mini Moments of Self-Care Even small breaks can make a big difference. Enjoy a cup of tea, listen to your favorite song, or take a few deep breaths. These moments help recharge your energy. ???2. Connect with Loved Ones Caregiving can feel isolating, but you’re not alone. Reach out to friends or support groups for encouragement, laughter, and shared experiences. ???3. Find Joy in Small Wins Celebrate the little victories—whether it’s a smile from your loved one, a task completed, or a moment of peace. These small joys add up and make a difference. ???4. Use Effective Dementia Care Techniques ? Keep Communication Simple: Speak slowly, use short sentences, and maintain eye contact. ? Create a Routine: Consistency helps reduce confusion and anxiety. ? Provide Reassurance: Patients with dementia may feel lost or frustrated—gentle reminders and validation can ease their distress. ? Engage in Meaningful Activities: Listening to music, folding towels, or reminiscing over old photos can bring comfort and joy. ? Use Redirection: If agitation arises, gently shift focus to another activity rather than correcting or arguing. ???5. Ask for Help When Needed You don’t have to do everything alone. Accepting help from family, friends, or professional respite care can give you the break you need to recharge. ???This Valentine’s Day, remember: You matter too. Take care of yourself with the same love and compassion you give to others.??? For additional information or to schedule an appointment for dementia caregiving support, visit?HarmonicHealth.com.

Our Chief Medical Officer, Scott Sarran, who serves as a Commissioner on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), was recently featured in an article supporting an update to physician reimbursement structures. During the discussion, Dr. Sarran endorsed tying physician pay to the Medicare Economic Index (MEI), calling it “a great threading of multiple needles” — a balanced approach that could help manage rising costs for physicians while remaining fiscally responsible. The proposed alignment with the MEI aims to offer physicians more predictability and stability, which could ultimately support access to care for the 68 million Americans on Medicare. There are many contributors in the healthcare system; however, without physicians and nurses, there is no healthcare. Read the full article for more insights from Dr. Sarran and other MedPAC commissioners on potential reforms that could address challenges in physician compensation and healthcare access:
