The MacArthur Foundation plans to increase its giving over the next two years in response to the "crisis" brought on by the Trump administration's freeze on federal foreign aid and the now-suspended freeze on federal grants, and it's urging other grant makers to do the same. https://lnkd.in/eAAU7DgP

It’s an honor to be named one of Time’s Women of the Year. In a time when trans people face increasing attacks culturally and politically, I hope this distinction serves as a reminder that no one can steal our power. Thank you to my trancestors and elders who paved the way, my peers who continue to march toward liberation, and the trans and nonbinary youth who refuse to be silenced. And I send all my love to the everyday risk-takers, especially the ones with lives cut short. I see your power too. Sam Nordquist. Tahiry Broom. Layleen Polanco. Chyna Gibson. Leelah Alcorn. Nex Benedict. Islan Nettles. Blake Brockington. Muhlaysia Booker. Marsha P. Johnson. And far too many more.

Like so many others around the world, I was appalled by the murder of Muhsin Hendricks, the "world's first openly gay imam," gunned down in South Africa on February 15. Last year I visited Muhsin at Cape Town's Al-Ghurbaah Foundation and mosque, which he founded and led, and attended the programs he ran supporting #LGBT #Muslims and promoting inclusion. I am proud that the #NewAfricaFund, where I am a founding board member, supported Muhsin and the outreach work he did. https://lnkd.in/etDH_8dU More on the murder: https://nyti.ms/3QjFWbD https://lnkd.in/ejaEVhYn

The Power of Digital Visibility: Why Google Calendar's Recent Change Matters As Pride in London, an organisation ?an organisation guided by our fundamental values?of Visibility, Unity, and Equality, we are deeply concerned by Google Calendar's decision to remove Pride Month alongside other crucial awareness periods from its platform. Visibility isn't just one of our core values – it's a lifeline. When #LGBTQ+ people see themselves represented in everyday spaces, from street celebrations to digital platforms, it reinforces that they belong and matter. Google Calendar's Pride Month marker may seem like a small feature, but it served as a powerful digital beacon, prompting millions of users worldwide to acknowledge, celebrate, and learn about our community. The timing of this removal is particularly concerning. At a moment when anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric is on the rise globally, digital visibility becomes even more crucial. These calendar markers didn't just remind people about Pride Month – they sparked conversations in workplaces, encouraged organisations to plan inclusive events, and signalled to LGBTQ+ individuals that their experiences are worth commemorating. Unity, another cornerstone of our mission, is strengthened when platforms acknowledge the interconnected nature of social justice. The simultaneous removal of Black History Month and Women's History Month markers demonstrates a troubling retreat from recognising the diverse tapestry of our communities and their ongoing struggles for equality. As we prepare for Pride in London 2025, we call on Google to reconsider this decision. In an increasingly digital world, visibility must extend beyond physical spaces to the platforms we use daily. These calendar markers aren't just dates – they're digital affirmations of our community's right to be seen, celebrated, and remembered. ?? ?? #PrideInLondon #Visibility #LGBTQ #Equality #Pride2025 #Inclusion
