It becomes a hazard when it is turned into a dust and enters the air during processes that involving cutting, drilling, grinding, and chipping. To avoid the harmful effects of silica, take measures to mitigate the creation of dust such as using the correct method of dust suppression, wearing the appropriate PPE, and washing your face and hands when leaving an area where dust may be present.
