Happy Valentine's Day from Disabilities Advocates! ??
Dear Friends, Today I get to share some exciting news with you. We are thrilled to welcome Becky Buchholz, RN, MBA to the Harbor House family as she transitions into the Executive Director role. Becky has an extensive background in healthcare, including her role as a licensed registered nurse specifically caring for a neurodiverse population. She is a proud graduate of Hope College, and she is currently completing her Executive MBA. Most recently, Becky has successfully led a thriving healthcare practice in West Michigan. Becky is passionate about the Harbor House mission to provide opportunities for adults with complex needs to live abundantly. I am looking forward to introducing Becky to all the incredible people who make Harbor House Ministries an amazing place to live, work and fellowship. She will join Harbor House later this month. On a personal note, I want to express my gratitude for the privilege of being able to grow with Harbor House Ministries over the past two decades. ?It has been such an honor to share life with the incredible people who call Harbor House home. For the last five years, the director’s chair offered me a front row seat to witness God’s grace and goodness as He moves in and through this ministry. What a blessing it has been to work with and learn from the most caring, compassionate and loving staff all of whom are committed to those we serve. As I transition into a new career path, I will take with me the passion for abundant life in Christ that I found here. Please join me in welcoming Becky to the Harbor House family! Warm Regards, Peggy Driesenga Executive Director
I recently read a recent article from Mark Fukae who was focused on the caregiver crisis and some practical means to address it (https://lnkd.in/e9mqfm76). The caregiver crisis affects us deeply and is a a reality that we are addressing in creative ways every day. At Harbor House Ministries, we can say that we are following best practices in supporting our employees: 1.????Counseling and Mental Health Support – we have an Employ Assistance Program that gives our employees access to mental health, financial, and legal assistance 2.????Workplace Flexibility – we offer several options for scheduling – from part-time to full-time as well as a variety of shift scheduling options 3.????Access to Care Giver Training – we offer both on site off-site training opportunities In addition, people who work here experience a sense of belonging and, the value of their contributions is acknowledged and rewarded frequently. This is what our staff say about their time here: “My coworkers worked well together. We were staffed nicely and our staff worked as a team to care for all of those we serve.” “The interaction with coworkers and the ability to interact with residents made my day. Everyone was helpful and that makes the day go smoothly.” “[We provide] care but not the just care….It’s about helping them live life abundantly.” “Harbor House is love. Harbor House is love for staff for the residents and for Jesus. We are bout being gracious and compassionate and just loving each other the way Jesus would want us to.” Visit us at https://lnkd.in/eainH2VT to learn more about joining our team.
