    At Haptik, our yearly 360 Feedback is around the corner and I thought it would be a good idea to just discuss “Feedback” at work in general. I often hear managers in the industry say, "My team members aren’t open to feedback, and when they do get it, they don’t take it in a positive way." It’s common for people to feel like feedback is an attack, especially when they’re invested in their work and maybe trying their best! Also, I think it depends on how feedback is given. I have seen many new leaders shout, point out, call out or push too hard and thereby fail to make feedback constructive for the other person. It is important to deliver it with empathy and a focus on growth. Here are a few ways one can do that: ? Start with the positive: Recognize what’s working before addressing what can improve. ? Focus on solutions, not just problems: Offer ideas to make things better, rather than just pointing out issues. ? Show support: Let the person know that the feedback is about helping them and the project succeed. ? Ask for your feedback: When you let your reportees also share feedback about yourself, it makes the conversation better and opens up a chance for improvement on both sides. ? Video-on always for such calls. ? IMP: Jot down Action items before you drop from the call: Verbal is good but written is actionable and can be tracked over time. When feedback is given with care, it’s easier to see the bigger picture and grow together and build better teams. I’ll continue this post on tips on how to positively receive feedback, questions to ask and work on feedback. #feedback #leadership #team #culture #mentorship #tech #business
