Earlier this month?Jonathan Zaleski and I attended Shoptalk Fall in Chicago and had the opportunity to connect with some truly inspiring brand leaders, explored new collaboration possibilities, and checked out incredible demos from eCommerce innovators like Algolia, Level Access, and Google Cloud’s Privacy Sandbox. The event was impressively organized, with plenty of on-site options to keep the momentum going without stepping away. A few highlights stood out—reconnecting with United States Postal Service, who I worked with during grad school and Google’s big presence, complete with the essential coffeeshop and dedicated meeting spaces. It was a blast to chat with Peak Design about their infamous backpack story and catch up on their latest release! From learning about AI applications in eCommerce to connecting with people on the cab ride over, this event brought so many valuable insights and unexpected conversations. Special shoutout to Contentful, our go-to CMS partner, for co-sponsoring the Busta Rhymes show, which was a super-fun way for the team to hang out! We had the opportunity to partner with a top art foundation and educational institution. After launching and learning from our wearable proof of concept, we decided to build an image-recognition application for the web. Excited to share this #techforgood and open source project. HFC was initially brought in to build out a wearable prototype that could deliver short form content. After extensive research, testing, and observing visitor behavior, it was found that a wearable was not the best solution.
