    Story time. Our client requested a custom pi?ata for their Cancun offsite. Yes, we got stopped at customs, but here’s how we pulled it off! First, let’s talk about how we got here. Our company, Happied, plans retreats and offsites for companies around the world. Clients love us because we go above and beyond. This challenge was new even for us. We couldn’t find a suitable vendor in Cancun, so we found one locally in Washington, DC. The pi?ata was HUGE (our bad for not giving specs ??). Packing it and getting through customs was a challenge. We ended up going with both Plan A and Plan B. Plan A: Ordered a backup smaller pi?ata to check in a bag. Plan B: Contacted United Airlines for help. They were PHENOMENAL walking us through the logistics. We’d simply wrap the pi?ata and check it in oversized luggage. Shout-out to United Airlines for handling it delicately ??. In Cancun, customs was dramatic. All our bags were held. We got taxed for having multiple electronic devices. But, worry not, 4ft pi?atas are not a problem ??. We made it to the hotel, met our local vendor for the fillings, and hung the big pi?ata. Needless to say, our clients were impressed, and everyone had a blast. Now we can add getting a giant, custom pi?ata through Mexico customs to our resume! ?? Moral of the story we make sh*t happen. That’s why we believe in the human approach to team retreat planning.
