Cigna, Jefferson Health split Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health has informed patients that the system is out-of-network with Cigna commercial plans, as of March 15. Rylee Wilson 2. Mercy reports $19.1M operating loss, -0.4% margin in first half of 2025 Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy recorded a $19.1 million operating loss (-0.4% operating margin) through the first half of fiscal 2025, down from an operating income of $59.9 million (1.4% margin) over the same period in 2024, according to its March 14 financial report. Advertisement. Andrew Cass Mercy posted total operating revenues of $5 billion in the six months ended Dec. 31, up from $4.3 billion over the same period last year. The health system attributed the increase in patient service revenue to higher volumes and contracted rate improvements. Total patient discharges increased 12.8% year over year. 3. Hospital margins hit 12-month High. Kaufman Hall This is a welcome sign. Ken Kaufman is the chair and legendary founder of Kaufman Hall. A related shout out to the brilliant Sara Elsasser and partner in crime and brilliant private equity leader Julie Klaff. Kaufman Hall’s “National Hospital Flash Report†revealed January median operating margins hit 4.4%, up from 3.7% in December and 0.6% last January. Without allocations, the median operating margin grew to 8%, a 12-month high. the averages are based on data from more than 1,300 hospitals and gathered by Strata Decision Technology. 4. Shuttered former Steward hospital to reopen Sharon (Pa.) Regional Hospital, a former Dallas-based Steward Health Care facility that closed in early January, will reopen under Tenor Health Foundation and begin accepting patients March 18. Madeline Ashley 5.
