As #WEST comes to a close, my time as AFCEA International Emerging Leader Co-President also comes to an end. It’s time for me to make space for new leaders to support this incredible organization that has done so much for me personally and professionally.?I am thrilled to pass the torch to Jaclyn Wilson who will serve with Ryan Mahoney as EL Co-President.?Jaclyn, and our other new ELAC members, Kim Eldridge and Andria Gagnon, bring energy and fresh perspectives and are ready to take our initiatives to the next level! I am full of gratitude as I reflect on my recent years holding leadership roles within AFCEA.?I’ve had the opportunity to lead committees, support governance initiatives, and serve on technical panels as the moderator and panelist, however, the greatest value AFCEA has shared with me is the people.?I’ve met incredible professionals, mentors, and friends who challenge, support, and inspire me.??AFCEA Hawaii, my hānai chapter, has been so supportive and I’m thrilled to continue to work with them to grow our STEM engagement efforts in the local community. Wednesday night during the Women’s Appreciation Event Fireside Chat, Tamara Greenspan advised the audience to take risks, raise your hand, and do things even if they scare you.?AFCEA International is an association that offers a safe place to do just that, and I am grateful I found a professional home in this organization. I am appreciative of the recognition I received during the AFCEA Business Meetings on Monday, and was honored to accept the Emerging Leadership award on Tuesday night.?Sharing the experience and award with my family made it even more special. There are too many individuals to thank so I will simply say mahalo nui AFCEA Hawaii and thank you AFCEA International. I’m taking a short break from AFCEA, but I’ll be back! Big things lie ahead in 2025, so watch this space…
