We kicked off the day with an insightful panel discussion on Navigating the National Conversation, moderated by Jeff Julian. A big thank you to panelists President Todd Haynie (Eastern Arizona College), Beth Jendro No?l (Middlesex Community College), and Andrea Rangno (Golden West College) for sharing how their institutions are responding to potential federal policy changes. From building thoughtful communication plans to supporting students and staff through uncertainty, the discussion centered on staying calm, clear, and proactive. Panelists highlighted the value of listening, being prepared, and continuing to focus on the core mission of serving students. We recently explored this topic in depth. Check out our latest blog post "Potential Changes to Federal Policy Are Coming: How Will They Impact Higher Education?" Be sure to stop by our booth throughout the conference. We still have a few NCMPR 2025 custom playing cards available. See you soon! #HigherEd #NCMPR50 #EducationMarketing #CascadeCMS National Council for Marketing & Public Relations

As with every conference, I kicked off the day with a group run alongside fellow attendees. ????♂???♀? Huge kudos to Jeff Ebbing for rallying such a great turnout, especially considering that last year in Seattle, it was just him and me! This morning was extra special as I got to run with my colleague Dean Smith and finally meet Maya Demishkevich in person after countless virtual collaborations. A great start to the day. I’m looking forward to continuing the momentum over breakfast with great conversations ahead! If you’re at the conference, stop by Hannon Hill’s booth today! See you soon! ?? #NCMPR50 #Networking #MorningRun National Council for Marketing & Public Relations

It is an uncertain time for higher education. 2025 has brought a series of major changes to federal policy impacting multiple sectors and industries. Understandably, everyone is anxious about what the future will look like under these new policies and protocols. While we cannot see the future, we can give a few actionable recommendations. These are things you can do today to ensure the confidence of your students, faculty, and staff while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment. → Seek out relevant information: Designate a specific member of staff to keep on top of news updates and watch for announcements, mandates, or changes that might affect higher education. Stay in the know. → Build a response and communications strategy: Make your position clear to anxious students, staff, faculty, and parents. Make sure your students know you are there to support them with a variety of resources as policies evolve during this transition. → Resource your international students: If the proposed changes to the Department of Education happen as intended, your international student body will be more important than ever before. Make sure they have the resources they need. Higher education has always been a pillar of progress, and institutions have continuously adapted to change. Although the future is uncertain, there are ways you can provide resources to your students, staff, faculty, and parents today.?

Your institution cannot afford a generic marketing strategy. It’s time to embrace web personalization. As we approach the Enrollment Cliff, higher education institutions must focus on recruiting non-traditional students. These students face unique challenges and need different resources than traditional students. Without web personalization, your institution could face: ? Losing potential new students during recruitment ? Alienating current students with out-of-touch communications ? Potential students enrolling with a competitor You must ensure your marketing materials are speaking to each group of students and their specific needs, from recruitment all the way through to enrollment. Don’t waste your marketing budget on generic marketing techniques that will not keep up. Put your dollars where it will make a difference and focus on personalized marketing.

Your students do not want to be a demographic. As the enrollment landscape quickly evolves, one thing is clear: students today want a personalized university experience. Your website is the first impression they get of your institution, so it must be personalized to their unique needs, preferences, and actions. One-size-fits-all marketing will not cut it, and here’s why: → Student demographics are evolving: Student bodies are shifting, with an increase in non-traditional students who have unique challenges and need specific resources.? → Each visitor has a unique path: Any action a visitor takes on your website is an opportunity to personalize dynamic content to their interests. Don’t waste this opportunity. → Your competitors are already using web personalization: If communications are not tailored to current students, they will tune out, and you could lose them to competitors. The way students engage with colleges is evolving, and institutions that prioritize web personalization will be best positioned to attract and retain them. By focusing your marketing efforts on web personalization, you will speak directly to the unique needs of each potential and current student.
