At Hannibal Square Community Land Trust we develop, rehab and preserve permanently affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families. We also promote financial education, economic inclusion and neighborhood stability. Our approach to affordable housing is based on the community land trust (CLT) model. Land trust homes are more affordable than homes purchased on the open real estate market, because the land is not part of the equation. The land is kept in a trust to preserve affordability, and the home buyer signs a restricted deed agreeing to the resale of the home to another low- to moderate-income buyer should they decide to sell their home.
