Employee Spotlight! Hopefully this spotlight will help you put a face to the voice you hear on the phone if you order residential flooring, meet Tami Johnson! Tami works inside sales support with our residential flooring department. Read below to get to know Tami a little bit more!
1. How long have you worked at Hank's and how did you come to work here?
" I just had my 13th year work anniversary in November. When I started this job, I had just become a single mom to two very little boys and hadn't worked for a couple of years. I was going through the work program in Anoka County and was looking for jobs when I came across an ad for Hank's for a receptionist and sent my resume over. I was 1 of 3 candidates they were looking at that had 2nd interviews. I received a call from Rich Meissner a week later and he said, "I hear you're looking for a job and we'd like to offer it to you." Best decision I ever made was applying to Hank's. I have made so many great friends and memories here. Since my start date I have been promoted to Inside Sales Support, but I am also the samples guru and claims coordinator as well. It's nice to be able to do so many different things."
2. If you could start one tradition at Hank's, what would it be?
" I would have Bring Your Dog to Work Day every Friday or even better, have an office dog that can wander around and bring people a smile to their faces and give them happiness if they are struggling or having a bad day. Nothing makes your day better than puppy snuggles and nose boops!"
3. What do you do to unwind after a long day at the office?
"I usually go home and spend time with my kids or our dog. The kids play baseball year-round, so I don't get a lot of down time.. we are always on the go. If I do have time to myself, I like to read, watch true crime documentaries, and meet my friends for dinner or drinks.
4. What is your favorite thing about your job?
" The people who work here and the customers for sure! I love that Hank's is a family run business, so we have more leniency to be who we are and have better connections with our customers. It really is a family here, and I have grown to care about everyone. This isn't just a job... this is like home for me, and I have become a better person because of all the wonderful people I see every day and get to learn from."
Next time you talk with Tami, make sure to mention how much you love the Bring Your Dog to Work Day idea!
