It takes a lot of work, including proper maintenance, to keep the lights on and power flowing throughout the Hanford Site. Our Electrical Utilities team performs maintenance of switchgear and breakers to help prevent unplanned outages on Site. Kind of like a 12-point car inspection, every circuit breaker and its switchgear and parts in each substation are inspected and tested. Thanks, EU team, for keeping the lights on for us! ?? #ElectricalSafety #OneHanford?

Our HMIS Family volunteers kicked off the holiday season by rolling up their sleeves at Second Harvest Tri Cities! Together with other community volunteers, we assembled meal boxes for the annual Turkey Drive, which will provide 2,500 families in the Mid-Columbia and Yakima Valley with a full Thanksgiving dinner. From box stuffing to team laughs, it’s all about giving back and sharing the holiday spirit. We’re so proud to be part of a community that puts kindness first! From our HMIS family to yours, have a Happy Thanksgiving full of food, love, and a little extra gravy! #TurkeyDrive #GivingSeason #HMISFamily #ThankfulAndGrateful #FeastMode

HMIS was proud to attend the Tri-Cities Veterans Resource Expo last week, hosted by Columbia Basin Veterans Center! This annual event provides free employment resources, VA benefits information, housing services, social services, counseling and more to veterans and their families. The HMIS Veterans Advocacy for Learning, Opportunities and Resources, or VALOR, program is designed to provide support and resources to our employees, prospective employees and other members of the community who have honored us with their military service.?

If information needs to be shared or a story needs to be told, you can count on the HMIS Communications team to get it done; whether that’s in our employee newsletter, a sitewide email message, or even here on social media! We work hard to make sure HMIS employees and the Hanford workforce stay well informed, but the best part of our job is sharing the milestones and accomplishments our teammates achieve every day. Stay tuned for more great news, coming soon!?

??We are proud to participate in the Department of Energy’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), dedicated to helping worksites improve workplace safety and health. HMIS has three separate VPP programs, one for our general contract, one for HAMMER and one for Safeguards and Security. This year, we received three VPP Star of Excellence Awards, which are awarded to sites that achieve an occupational injury and illness rate at least 75% below each of the applicable U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry averages, among other goals. Being awarded three Stars of Excellence highlights the commitment of our workforce in ensuring safety is our first priority – keep up the great (and safe) work! ??
