Handmade Arcade is the spark that ignited Pittsburgh’s robust maker community. Predating all other local craft-focused markets, including national markets like Etsy, Handmade Arcade has been a leader in Pittsburgh’s maker movement long before the term “maker movement” existed—with early credits such as features in MAKE Magazine and hosting the country’s first-ever Craft Congress in 2007. Today, the organization operates as a nonprofit and continues to make significant, year-long contributions that directly impact Pittsburgh’s craft, maker, and arts community’s quality of life and economic success. ? The RAD Board has approved $141.2 million for our regional assets in 2025. All RAD funding comes from the countywide sales tax, which has supported RAD for three decades. Highlights of the 2025 RAD budget include: ?? A $5 million capital grant to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust to help create the new 8th Street Block Civic Space in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District ?? $43.8 million to regional parks and trails, a category that includes North Park, Schenley Park, Frick Park, Boyce Park and dozens of other green spaces ??? $38.5 million for the public libraries of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh / Allegheny County Library Association) ??
