HAMRICK MILLS is happy to report that we have restored power to our plants and offices. Our manufacturing facilities are operational, although some employees are still without power and are having difficulty getting to the plants. Our offices are open, but still with limited access to phone system and no internet. Please bear with us as we strive to answer questions about production, shipments, etc. Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers, they are all much appreciated and well received.

HAMRICK MILLS in Gaffney, SC is still without power since early Friday am thanks to Hurricane Helene. Our plants are closed and our office is working off generator power…enough for phones, computers and lights, but no A/C. We are trying mightily to answer customer questions about shipments, etc., but we are unable to ship any cloth with no power at plants. Please be patient with us as we work to get back up and running. Prayers for all others who have been affected by this storm.

See the below sent out by the NCTO this pm… Thank you NCTO for bringing this to our collective attentions. Another example of foreign entities(China) duping American consumers and negatively affecting our industry. This is a direct hit to Hamrick Mills and other flag fabric suppliers who strive to produce quality woven fabrics to the US flag market. It is unconscionable that any American would knowingly purchase a US flag that was not made here in the United States…at any price! However, if the information about your purchase is false, and it is received into the country under the current “de minimis” rule, how would you ever know. It just shows up at your door and no one is the wiser. Except for the fabric producers and the flag manufacturers who have to adjust their operations to offset the lost business. Read the below and BE AWARE!! We would like to share a news story published by the Financial Times, highlighting the impact of the flood of Chinese-made American flag imports on U.S. flag makers and election merchandise. Please see the link to the Financial Times story here: US Election Merchandise Sellers hit by Flood of Cheap Chinese Competition If you can’t see the article from the link, google the Financial Times and look for this story.

We at HAMRICK MILLS are pleased to be able to host some young(and not so young) industry professionals at our plants and offices tomorrow as a part of the AAPN Carolina Mill tours program. We are excited to show these young “up and comers” how we convert fiber to yarn to woven fabric right here in the USA. Some, and probably most have never been in a weaving facility before, so we will be showing and telling them some things that they have potentially never seen or heard. We do have a language of our own. ?? To paraphrase an old quote, “The rumors of our demise are greatly exaggerated.” Welcome to the US Textile Indusrty!

The SEAMS Organization Spring Conference is nearly upon us and will be held in beautiful Myrtle Beach at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. If you haven’t registered and/or made your reservations yet, you need to do it NOW. We have an outstanding program with some very interesting and insightful speakers lined up. They will share with you their thoughts about the present, as well as their vision for navigating the future in our industry. Looking forward to seeing you all there!!
