The HLR Roadrunners were back in the game on April 10, joining the action at Rieke Interiors’ 14th Annual R-Games for Chair-ity! 🏐 Hosted at Rieke’s Elgin headquarters, this high-energy chair volleyball event brings the community together in support of Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley’s Positioning and Mobility Clinic. The clinic’s incredible work helps children with disabilities achieve greater independence through custom mobility solutions. We may not have taken home the gold, but we had a great time supporting a meaningful cause and connecting with others who care just as much. Congratulations to the recent recipients of the $1,500 Hampton, Lenzini, and Renwick (HLR) Founder Surveying and Geomatics Scholarship at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. These scholarships are presented to admitted first-year, sophomore, and transfer students. Introduced in the fall of 2023, the surveying and geomatics program is a four-year bachelor’s degree offered through a collaboration between the School of Engineering and the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Sciences. Sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), Trig-Star recognizes and rewards high school students who excel in mathematics, particularly Trigonometry. The competition not only highlights the practical applications of Trigonometry in land surveying but also serves as a great opportunity to educate students about the field and inspire them to consider surveying as a career. Recently, our entire team, spread across five offices in Illinois, came together in Champaign for our annual All Employee Meeting! Every year, this gathering is built around our core values: Work Hard | Have Fun | Give Back®. To kick off an exciting 2025, our CEO shared the strategic plan, we heard insightful staff-led presentations on project successes and industry topics, and we reconnected with teammates—many of whom we collaborate with daily but don’t always get to see in person. Giving back is always a key part of our meeting, and this year, we assembled sensory support backpacks for individuals in the Champaign-Urbana area. These backpacks contain calming tools designed to help individuals with autism manage sensory sensitivities in busy or loud environments, providing comfort and support when it's needed most.
