Congratulations to Westminster Communities of Florida on the closing for Riverside Presbyterian House in Jacksonville, FL! This transaction provides valuable project-based rental assistance to 110 previously unsubsidized homes, in addition to significant funding for repairs and improvements to the 50+ year old building. Hampden Park is grateful to have been a part of the team and thanks Westminster, the HUD Southeast team, the Jacksonville Housing Authority, and all other stakeholders for the collaboration!

Hampden Park was thrilled to see that the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations yesterday approved the FY2025 Appropriations Bill with $115 MM allocated to new Section 202 Capital Advance grants. This news came as a welcome surprise, as neither the House Committee bill nor HUD's own budget request for FY2025 included funding for new Section 202 homes. Our friends at Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC) Affordable Housing communities in La Porte, TX have been hit hard by Hurricane Beryl. The residents there are in urgent need of supplies and support. Due to an extended loss of power, these residents with limited resources have lost most of their perishable food items and are now facing a variety of unexpected expenses. Your generosity can make a huge difference. Your donations will replace those items that have been lost and ensure they have the supplies they need to thrive. https://lnkd.in/ex2S76bj

Congratulations to the New Samaritan Corporation/Elderly Housing Management team who celebrated the ribbon cutting of their New Samaritan Parkville?project yesterday! ? New Samaritan Parkville is a part of the Section 202 Class of FY2018- the first round of Section 202 funding offered by HUD following 7 years of hiatus. During that time, New Samaritan Corporation was a steadfast advocate for the Section 202 program and the need for increased funding for affordable housing for older adults. When the funding notice was released, they were first in line to submit an application. And when announcements were made, they were one of only eighteen projects in the country to be funded. ? The New Samaritan Corporation board showed a fierce dedication to their mission to serve low-income older adults. This was a commitment they renewed time and time again throughout the development process as the project faced many hurdles. The end result would not be possible without the support of the project’s funding partners including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the State of Connecticut, Department of Housing, the City of Hartford, and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority. Together they showed what's possible when working together in service to a common mission. As a result, 22 units of beautiful housing for older adults are available in the thriving Parkville neighborhood of Hartford. A HUD Project Rental Assistance Contract (PRAC) covers all units at the property, ensuring all residents will pay only 30% of their income toward rent. Residents have access to numerous common spaces within the building, including a greenhouse space and telehealth room. The bus stop, the local senior center, and a grocery store are located just steps outside the door. ? Congratulations to the entire New Samaritan Parkville development team! ? ·????????New Samaritan Corporation/ Elderly Housing Management, INC ·????????U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ·????????CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING ·????????City of Hartford ·????????Connecticut Housing Finance Authority ·????????Naek Construction ·????????Schadler Selnau Associates ·????????Murtha Cullina LLP
