Subsurface Constructors recently rented an ABI Mobilram TM 26 to install full displacement piles for several new attractions in downtown St. Louis.?The project calls for the addition of a roller coaster and several other amusement park rides to join the existing Ferris wheel at St. Louis’ Union Station.?The piling installation was performed in conjunction with Concrete Strategies.?PARIC is the general contractor, and construction is expected to be completed later this year.

An ABI Mobilram TM 22 recently went to work on a high-profile job in San Francisco. The project called for driving four 24"x60'x1" pipe, each weighing upwards of 15,000 lbs. The client initially planned to vibrate the pipe approx. 45-50' then back drive with a diesel hammer. However, the Mobilram made the driving too easy, eliminating the need for additional equipment. These pipe will set the foundation for a new Ferris wheel on Fisherman's Wharf.

United Contractors of Johnston, Iowa recently had success utilizing an ABI Mobilram TM 14/17V along various sections of interstate in Des Moines. The project called for the installation of a shoring wall utilizing 25ft PZ 27 pairs for foundations of interstate signs along I-80. One major area of concern for the customer was tight access, which really allowed the TM 14/17V to shine. On several sites, width was limited to as little as 20ft, creating an issue with the tail swing of the unit. By slewing the mast, they were able to work on both sides of the machine without the need to swing the house any significant amount. An additional advantage for the contractor was the ability to ship the unit without the need to dismount counterweights, leaving the rig to weigh approximately 127,000 lbs. This was quite advantageous for United Contractors, as their project required shipments between several relatively-close sites. Eliminating the need to dismount the counterweights allowed the customer to ready the rig for shipment, move it and ready to drive sheeting at the new location within a 4-hour window.
