At our October board meeting, we welcomed a new face to the SWCD's board of supervisors. Samantha Shoaf Miller is a Purdue graduate with her PhD in Agronomy. She is a 10 year resident of Noblesville with two kids in Noblesville schools. Samantha is involved in her family's farm operation in Pulaski County and works in the crop protection industry at Corteva Agriscience. Samantha was appointed to fill the remaining months of former supervisor Warren Sarber's term. Warren resigned his position concluding 14 years of dedicated service as an SWCD Supervisor. Thank you Warren for your long tenure and welcome Samantha. Thank you to County Commissioner Mark Heirbrandt for joining us to deliver the oath of office and welcome Amanda to our board. We are honored to be the recipient of a 2025 District Showcase Award from the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. This honor celebrates unique and successful projects undertaken by Indiana SWCDs. Last week, we welcomed a contingent of representatives from the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture including Director Don Lamb, USDA-NRCS Indiana, and more to celebrate the success of our Hamilton County Invasives Partnership (HIP) program. Learn more about HIP and get involved at www.hcinvasives.org.

We're thrilled to bring two new murals to Noblesville that highlight the beauty of native plants and the impact of invasive species on our environment. These murals were developed in partnership with the Noblesville Township Trustee and made possible with support from Hamilton County Tourism, Inc.. You can find both murals on the Noblesville Township Trustee's office building at 8th and Division Streets in Noblesville. Artist: Abigail Staffelbach
