Last week we had the opportunity to host Superior High School students for Transportation Day 2024 with Daniel L. Rust, of University of Wisconsin-Superior's School of Business and Economics. It is so inspiring to see young minds so engaged and curious about the future of transportation; The students had the chance to tour our terminal, get an inside look at the transportation and logistics industries, and even check out a brand-new truck.?We're excited to continue supporting future leaders in the transportation industry! This month we have had the privilege of awarding two drivers with 1,000,000 miles driven! This is a significant milestone, please help us in congratulating our hardworking drivers, Sydnee and David. Did you know it takes an average of 10 years to hit this milestone? These drivers did it in 8! ??

Whether you love the snow, or hate it, winter is coming! The new season is bringing a lot more than just cold weather – it’s bringing a variety of new road challenges as well. Here’s a few tips to help you prepare to stay safe while hitting the road: - Watch for black ice! Slow down when approaching shaded areas, bridges, and overpasses as these sections of road freeze sooner than others in cold weather. - Drop your speed to match road conditions. No matter how much experience you have, the way your truck will move on snow or ice is unpredictable. - Do not use cruise control in inclement weather. - Check the weather conditions for your current location and trip so you know what to expect. - Don’t follow too close. Traffic tends to bunch up on bad roads, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. - Watch for warning signs. If vehicles are spun out in the median or shoulder, the roads are bad. If you start seeing big trucks spun out, it’s time to get off the roadway. - There is no load worth your life. If you experience extreme driving conditions, try to find a safe spot to wait it out. Do NOT park on an incline, as you may get stuck. - Make sure you have the supplies you need. In the unfortunate event that you end up stuck, spun out, wrecked or just sitting in a backup, be sure you have the necessities with you including fuel, food, water, warm clothing, and blankets. Carry Kitty Litter or grid to help add traction in docks and parking areas where your tires may spin. - Make sure you have chains if traveling through states that require them and that they are the correct size for your tires. - Wear your company provided traction devices. Snow, ice and cold weather can make even the simplest task treacherous. Maintaining 3 points of contact when entering or exiting the cab will keep you on your feet, especially in winter when steps and the ground below may be icy.

It’s harvest season! We’ve all been there—stuck behind slow-moving farm equipment on the road. Before you feel the urge to pass, remember: - Farm equipment must stay on paved roads. - Look for turn signals before attempting to pass. - It’s illegal to pass in a "No Passing Zone." - Only pass when it’s safe and legal. Harvest crews are out there every day, but most equipment only travels short distances. So, be patient, tap the brakes, and give them the space they need! We’re proud to highlight our recent community events! On September 24, Albert M. from Halvor Lines visited the Hudson, WI Weigh Station, where he represented us at the WIS DOT open house. Albert connected with a Wisconsin State Trooper, answering questions about CMV road safety and connecting with the community. Earlier that month, we also had our driver John W. at the Superior Weigh Station on September 10, where we showcased our commitment to safety and support. Together, we’re making our roads safer for everyone. Thank you Garrett Osborn, Kendra and Albert for capturing these photos!

Mark came to Halvor as a trainee in 2017. Today, he's built a solid retirement fund and is treating his family to an Alaskan cruise in August. He credits trucking for helping him build a stable future. If you're looking for the same, why not give us a call? 833.442.5867.

We get it - drivers often try other companies to see what they have to offer. Marshall did that, but when it was time to find a new employer again, he came home to Halvor. We thought we'd celebrate by sharing a video Marshall did for us a couple of years ago. And a big thanks to our recruiter Tobin, who has kept in touch with Marshall over the years. He's a big part of the reason Marshall returned! Reach Tobin or our other recruiters at 833.442.5867.
