This Women's History Month, we're celebrating the incredible women who lend their creativity, talent, and ideas to help bring our visions to life. Today, we want to highlight Micah Jordan, Associate Technical Animator. Micah shares some of her experiences as a woman in the industry and her time at Halon. Thank you, Micah, for sharing some of your journey with us. To all the women shaping the future of entertainment and bringing stories to life, you are seen, valued, and celebrated. 1. ???????? ???????????????? ?????? ???? ???????????? ?? ???????????? ???? ??????????????????????????, ?????? ???????? ?????????????? ?????? ???? ??????????? I’ve always been captivated by stories. As a child, I often found myself in a corner, engrossed in my favorite book or movie, and this passion has remained with me into adulthood. This love for storytelling initially motivated me to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. While studying animation, I often heard about Halon and even had the opportunity to take a “field trip” to the studio to understand its work. Fast forward a few years, and I received a job offer to join the Fortnite Cinematics team. My time at Halon has taught me invaluable lessons about this industry. 2.?????????’?? ?????? ???????? ???????????? ??????’???? ?????????????? ???? ?? ?????????? ???? ?????? ?????????????????????????? ????????????????? One of the key lessons I’ve learned as a woman in the entertainment industry is the importance of self-belief. Many women experience imposter syndrome, particularly in male-dominated fields. Even with supportive colleagues, I often question my abilities and whether I deserve a place at the table. However, it’s crucial to maintain confidence in your skills and learning potential, as self-doubt can lead to failure. 3.??????????????? ????????, ???????? ???????????? ???????????? ?????????? ?????? ???????? ???? ???????? ?????????????? ????????? If I could offer advice to my younger self, it would be to follow my passions. In the past, I often observed my peers and thought I needed to follow suit. This was particularly true during school, where I saw others in my major excelling in storyboarding and animation, and I felt pressured to match their skills. Over time, I came to understand that my focus should be solely on what I loved, specifically the technical aspects of CGI. Once I shifted my attention to my true interests, I became more confident in my abilities and clearer about my goals rather than just imitating others. Ultimately, each person's journey is unique.

To celebrate Women's History Month, we’re highlighting some of Halon's talented and impactful women. Today, we are excited to feature Kay Park-Kim, our Lead Postvis Artist, who shares her experiences and insights from her time in the entertainment industry. Thank you, Kay, for sharing your journey with us! What inspired you to pursue a career in entertainment? What brought you to Halon? I remember watching the behind-the-scenes feature on the Stuart Little DVD, showcasing different animators’ takes on the same scene. I was fascinated by the animation process but didn't fully grasp that it was 3D. A few years later, in an intro to a 3D animation course, I connected the dots and realized the process behind what I saw in Stuart Little. This experience inspired me to pursue graduate studies in 3D animation depth. After a few years at various animation and VFX studios, I moved to LA. While freelancing at different VFX studios, I learned about Halon Studio from coworkers and their work in previs and postvis. Intrigued, I applied. My first gig at Halon was in 2015, working on Alice Through the Looking Glass for a few months, which led to a more extended project in 2016 on War for the Planet of the Apes. What’s the best lesson you’ve learned as a woman in the entertainment industry? As a working woman in any industry, getting married and having children can drastically shift your perspective. Before marriage, I was drawn to big-budget, high-profile films and had no problem working late nights and weekends. Someone once told me that work-life balance is crucial, but as a single person, I was fine with long hours because the bigger paycheck made it worthwhile. However, after getting married and having kids, my priorities changed—I realized that maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential to avoid burnout. I've seen many women leave the entertainment industry entirely, either due to burnout or because they wanted more time with their children. That's why I've always appreciated working on projects at Halon, where I've had the chance to collaborate with more female artists. It's been exciting to see that representation grow over the years. Even now, while working on my current project, we have more women artists than usual for this field, which is both inspiring and encouraging. Looking back, what career advice would you give to your younger self? I began my career in New York, spent time in Louisiana, and eventually arrived in Los Angeles—my dream since college. If I could advise my younger self, I'd say: Move to LA sooner. You'll meet amazing artists, make lifelong friends, and grow in unexpected ways.
