The role of Polysorbate 80 (PS80) in therapeutic protein formulations is a topic of ongoing debate, particularly its impact on protein stability. A study published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences?explored this by investigating the effect of partly hydrolyzed PS80 on protein stability under various stress conditions. While several analytical methods were used, Halo Labs’ technique was found to be particularly effective. Screening approaches for evaluating development risks in biological therapeutics, like mAbs, are complex yet crucial. Early assessments can save time and money by identifying potential issues impacting the end goal: a stable drug product. A case study of four IgG1 mAbs, published in Pharmaceutical Development & Technology, demonstrated that comprehensive assessments are beneficial in spotting development options for molecules with challenging stability trends.
