This past weekend, I had the tremendous opportunity to compete in the ASU NBA Trade Deadline Competition, representing the University of Michigan. My team and I were assigned to take over the front office of the Charlotte Hornets, and over a dynamic five-hour period, we worked to strategize and negotiate trades that aligned with our vision for the Hornets' future. The following day, we presented our results to a panel of NBA front office professionals, receiving invaluable feedback and insights. Thank you to my teammates Devesh Anand, Jack Riley, and Faris Madain for being an exceptional group to work with. Unlike most teams in the competition, we had never met before this event, and I’m incredibly proud of how seamlessly we were able to come together, communicate, and build trust across both days. I’d also like to express my gratitude to Kyle Goodier, the planning team, and the panel of judges who made this event such a memorable and impactful experience. Presenting our decisions to industry professionals offered unique perspectives on the intricacies of front office dynamics and team-building strategies. This experience not only solidified my passion for basketball operations and salary cap strategy but also sharpened my skills in teamwork, quick decision-making, and strategic thinking. I’m looking forward to applying my knowledge from this event to future opportunities!
