Samantha is an amazing part of our Quality Control Team. Her love for the outdoors and doing hands-on work drew her to a career in the industry. She also enjoys being able to say she does the same job as a man and does it well. Her advice to women considering entering this industry: “Do not feel like you have to be any less feminine to be respected, understood, and listened to. You can still be feminine and do the job.”

Connie joined Hallett Materials after selling a local business and has now been a valuable member of our team for about 18 years. Her advice to women (or anybody interested in careers within the construction industry): “Give it a try! I think you would be surprised!"

Tami is celebrating her 29th year with Hallett Materials today! She has been a valuable member of our team. When asked what advice she would give to women who are considering a career in construction, she had some great answers: “Smile in the mirror every morning, shoot for the stars, be strong, never look back and always speak your mind and share your ideas.” Thank you for all you do, Tami!

Deb was drawn a career in construction because her father worked for the company and encouraged her to apply for an open position after college. It was a great fit, and she has been with us for 37 years! Her advice to women thinking about a career in the industry: “Be open to it. It has provided me and my family an excellent financial future and has allowed me to do what I need to do to be there for my family.” Thank you for all you do for us, Deb!

Rocks Build Our World! Several volunteers from the Ankeny office, led by our Environmental team, visited with 100 4th Graders on February 4, 2025 - demonstrating our business and mining in general. Construction isn’t just about hard work—it’s about building strong teams and enjoying the process along the way! Today we celebrate our staff from the Iowa Companies by celebrating the moments of laughter, camaraderie, and teamwork that make our job sites and offices great places to be.

Preparing for another busy and successful season is a task our Iowa Group supervisors take seriously. Our front-line supervisors and managers learned a lot through communication and team-building at an offsite two-day meeting in mid-January, and also enjoy games and camaraderie. ??: April Roy
