Photo Friday – Work Weighing On My Mind Here is a shot from a 17-acre temporary rain-shed cover install we have been completing in Virginia using R12BV (12-mil) Dura-Skrim liner produced by Viaflex. This job requires over 7,000 sandbags for ballasting in order to secure the material in place. Ballasting is crucial for material deployment because it prevents conditions such as heavy wind from moving or damaging the geosynthetics. Photo Friday – ¡Bienvenidos! We have had a large group of crew members return to our Maryland office ready to kick the 2025 season into high gear. After taking a few months off to recharge, everyone is ready to hit the road and tackle some fantastic projects we have “lined” up for them. Photo Friday – One Track Mind One of our longstanding field employees recently took on a personal project in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The project consisted of lining a two-kilometer train tunnel that goes directly through a mountain. A system of geomembrane backing strips was affixed along the high ceiling and walls in order to weld the final PVC material in place. This installation required the use of scaffolding because of the height of the tunnel itself.  Additionally, there were other jobs ongoing directly below the install, with vehicle maneuverability a necessity. Many jobs require creative thinking and the ability to adapt to site conditions and this job was no exception. The innovative ideas implemented into this install were paramount for its eventual success. Hats off to you, Feliciano and @Geomembranas LS, what an amazing project. Photo Friday – Under the Tree We are wrapping up this partial closure in Wilmington, North Carolina, consisting of 40 mil LLDPE, Geocomposite, 20 mil Duraskrim®, and Wind Defender®. It is always a pleasure working with the wonderful folks at ES&J (Sandra Carlisle Carroll-Williams) as well as SCS Engineers! Although we have some minor details to complete, we are thrilled to have gotten the majority of this install under our belt prior to the upcoming holidays. Additionally, as our marketing person who calls Wilmington home, it is very rewarding to complete a job right down the road. Compliments to our exceptional crews, great job! Photo Friday – Early Arrival This containment project was recently completed, consisting of approximately 735,000 sq ft of Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL), Geocomposite, and 60 mil HDPE liner. Although we had scheduled a 30-day install period, our crews managed to knock this project out in 12 days. We had extra hands onsite for this job, which expedited our deployment and enabled us to meet our deadline two weeks early! Great job guys! The supervisor is responsible for managing many facets of the jobsite as well as generating solutions when faced with unforeseen obstacles. A truly skilled supervisor has the ability to keep crews both motivated and informed with ongoing jobsite tasks, maintain steady workflow and meet deadlines, and has the confidence to make adaptations to plans when necessary. We are very fortunate to have a multitude of supervisors on board with us that fit this skillset extremely well.
