Bryn Mawr College recently installed a public art project, Don’t Forget to Remember (Me), by artist Nekisha Durrett. The project was constructed in the courtyard of The Cloisters on Bryn Mawr’s Campus. The general contractor, The Sullivan Company, chose Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc. to assist with the challenging task of stripping the existing topsoil, adjusting drainage structures and installing a stone base and engineered soil. Due to the enclosed nature of the courtyard, materials could not be brought in through traditional access points. Instead, two (2) 249 Caterpillar tracked skid steer loaders, 125 tons of aggregate and 310 cubic yards of soil had to be “flown” into the courtyard utilizing a 240 ton crane provided by Sautter Crane Rental, Inc.. H&K produced the aggregate in their Douglassville quarry and manufactured the soil at their American Biosoils & Compost plant. H&K, Inc. operating engineers and laborers placed the materials to help construct this legacy project. #HainesandKibblehouse #BrynMawrCollege

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the H&K Susquehanna P3 I-81 Project Team gathered at Hallstead Fire Company, Station 7, to celebrate the successful completion of Stage 2 of this monumental infrastructure project.   Over 120 team members—including tradespeople, supervisors, managers, engineers, estimators, and administrative staff—came together to share a meal, socialize, and reflect on the achievements of this challenging phase. H&K’s Executive Management Team was present to express heartfelt gratitude for the team’s incredible effort, dedication, resilience, and steadfast commitment to safety.   To those unable to attend—whether working, unavailable, or unintentionally missed—please know your contributions were deeply valued and felt in spirit.   A special thanks goes out to the entire H&K Employee Family for their unwavering support at every stage of the P3 I-81 project. We also extend our gratitude to the Hallstead Fire Company for hosting and to the entire Hallstead community for their partnership and support throughout this complex endeavor.   Here’s to continued success as we advance toward project completion!

H&K Group, Inc.’s Materials Division recently acquired a new John Deere 944X loader. Currently the largest John Deere loader on the market, the 944X boasts an estimated 14% savings on preventative maintenance, 50% cost savings on tires and 33% fuel savings compared to traditional drive loaders in the same class size. This loader, equipped with a 10 yard bucket, will be paired with our Komatsu HD605-8 trucks at H&K’s Penn/MD Quarry location, ensuring the material from the pit is delivered to the crushing plant quickly and efficiently so our customers’ needs for construction aggregate are satisfied. On Tuesday, October 14th, Karen Traten, Senior Director of Development Operations at Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley was joined by some of H&K’s ownership to be presented with a check for $74,000, raised through H&K’s 17th Annual Charity Golf Open. Presenting the contributions to Make-A-Wish were John Kibblehouse, Jr., VP & Secretary, Jennifer Haines, PR/Event Coordinator, Scott Haines, CEO, Jim Haines, COO, and Chris Budenz, Executive Vice President. With this donation to Make-A-Wish, we will be able to help fulfill seven children’s wishes! We truly appreciate everyone that joined us and supported the Make-A-Wish mission of creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses living in our community. The future of pediatric healthcare is not only drugs or surgical procedures. It’s care for the whole child – mind and body – that can improve children’s odds of overcoming their illness. Conversations with children transform from ones of fear to ones centered around hope. That is the moment a wish is born. A wish is a pivotal event in a child's medical journey, increasing quality of life and invariably inspiring hope and joy. This collaboration allows the Make-A- Wish-granting program to strengthen and enhance community-based health service.

In true fashion, Ray, H&K lowbed extraordinaire, and his team of family, friends and co-workers put together yet another amazing Halloween float for the Boyertown Halloween Parade, also known as “Der Gnom Karneval”. This marks the 17th year Ray and his team have participated in the parade. Ray and his team immediately started thinking of ideas for 2024’s parade the day after the 2023 parade. This year, they decided on “The Timeless Treasure” which is a full-size school bus repurposed into a pirate ship. You may think that this took months in planning and execution to complete, but that is not the case. In the two Saturday’s leading up to the parade, Ray and his team built the entire ship! The ship includes a sail mast, a two-tier front deck, and 2 cannons with kickballs painted black to represent cannonballs. Ray says the entire reason he, his friends, family and co-workers participate in the parade and put all this work in is to preserve tradition, bring everyone together and prevent small town America from dissolving, which is a “True Timeless Treasure."   “With the amazing help of family, friends, and co-workers we made the impossible possible which is the most gratifying part of the journey for me” says Ray. He would like to thank his girlfriend, Christine, Charles “The Boss” Dickinson, who is the owner of D&D Collision, all his family, friends and co-workers for their assistance, Reid’s Tannery, Austin Graphics, as well as the parade staff, volunteers, other participants and parade goers!

This year’s 17th Annual H&K Charity Golf Open was held on September 28th at Hickory Valley Golf Club benefitting Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley! We were thrilled to host 220 golfers and raise $74,000 for Make-A-Wish, making our highest total to date. Over the years, our annual Golf Open has raised $412,000 for various charities around southeastern Pennsylvania. This would not have been possible if it wasn’t for all of our amazing sponsors and participants that were a part of our day, as well as the volunteers that came out to make sure the day ran smoothly and ensure that everyone had an amazing time (despite the rainy weather for the second year in a row)! With our donation we will be able to help fulfill seven children’s wishes! For every $10,000 raised, we will be able to grant a child’s heartfelt wish. We truly appreciate you giving up a Saturday to help support the Make-A-Wish mission of creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses living in our community. The future of pediatric healthcare is not only drugs or surgical procedures. It’s care for the whole child – mind and body – that can improve children’s odds of overcoming their illness. A wish is a pivotal event in a child's medical journey, increasing quality of life and invariably inspiring hope and joy. Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc. (H&K, Inc.) was awarded Package 1 of the 9R-27L Runway Rehabilitation at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Runway 9R-27L, which is the primary and busiest runway at PHL, measures 12,000ft long, 200ft wide and has 25ft shoulders on either side. The project calls for the removal and replacement of pavement of the original portion of the runway, which was last resurfaced in 2010. Work includes milling and paving an estimated 76,000 tons of asphalt and electrical base can and conduit installation. The asphalt being used on this project, P-401, is made with coarse aggregate materials sourced from H&K’s Birdsboro Quarry. The project value is a little over $23 million, and supplementing the project is a $16.3 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvements Program, which was awarded in August of 2024. Due to the importance of the runway, all work must be completed at night as to not interrupt the flow of air traffic -- in 2023, there were over 294,000 total movements (takeoffs & landings) at PHL. Haines & Kibblehouse crews will be working until late Fall 2024 and will then restart the project at the end of Spring 2025, after a winter shut down. Well done on another PHL Project, H&K, Inc.!   #HainesandKibblehouse #HKGroup #Construction #Aviation #PhiladelphiaInternationalAirport
