Here is what Rick had to say about the shot: “In 2024, H&K placed a new Weiler E2860C “Shuttlebuggy” into service. This image, taken during its first night in service, shows our paving spread along I-476 northbound at Villanova, PA. H&K’s Pottstown Division was tasked with paving the mainline (travel) lanes and the on and off ramps of I-476 between I-76 and Route 3. H&K Group, Inc. is proud to announce one of our heavy highway project photos was selected as a winner for Engineering News-Record's 2024 Photo Contest! The photo, shown below, depicts H&K’s Pottstown Division paving I-476 in Villanova, PA in April of 2024. The interesting lighting is provided by H&K’s new Weiler E2860C “shuttlebuggy”. This unique overhead view shows the lighting package the machine is equipped with. We are thrilled to have been chosen as one of 50 selected images from over 1,000 images submitted. Over the course of two weeks, H&K Group Inc.’s Pottstown Division lifted and set 408 sections of StormTrap, a pre-cast underground storm water detention system, at their Exton, PA job site. This pre-cast underground basin will allow water run-off to be “trapped.” The StormTrap sections were formed by Atlantic American Precast (AAP), a proud H&K Group, Inc. affiliate. A special thanks to our field personnel for braving the frigid temperatures to keep the project on schedule, our haulers for the help with delivery, and to I.B. Dickinson & Sons Inc. Here’s what Rick had to say about the shot: “A mid-January 2024 snowstorm dropped a few inches of fresh snow over southeastern Pennsylvania. My Epiroc D60 track drill popped against the grey of the quarry and the white of the snow. In December of 2024, Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc. brought down the old Bergeys Mill Road bridge, which spanned the east branch of the Perkiomen Creek. The original bridge dated back to 1893 and was structurally unsound due to deterioration. Using a Caterpillar 345C, the operator methodically made a few snips at support beams and the spans came down. Demolition was completed in two phases for ease of access and loading out the metal for recycling. The bridge will be replaced with a two-span bridge with prestressed concrete beams. The design is similar to the bridge upstream on Camp Wawa Road, which was built by H&K Group, Inc.’s Structures Division in 2021. Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc. has been awarded the construction of the new bridge that is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. #HainesandKibblehouseInc #HKGroup #Bridge #Construction #Demolition
