HACKERverse?

Recently, in the news, UAC-0173, a new Russian hacker entity, has appeared on the scene and has been targeting Ukraine's notaries since the beginning of 2024. The group of cybercriminals uses the DarkCrystal RAT to steal sensitive data. They do this by sending out phishing emails disguised as official Ministry of Justice communication announcements. This group's goal seems primarily focused on gaining unauthorized access to state registers to alter data and exfiltrate confidential government information. While it's not totally clear if they're state-sponsored, these attacks share many similarities to past Russian cyberattacks on Ukraine's registries, which officials say is quite concerning.
