New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. NOAHH builds new houses in partnership with sponsors, volunteers, communities, and homeowner families to eliminate poverty housing in the New Orleans area while serving as a catalyst to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since its inception in 1983 NOAHH has built 450 new homes for low-income families in need of adequate shelter (as of 7/1/11). NOAHH plans to continue to build homes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Charles and Plaquemines Parishes.

??What a fabulous week!! I was incredibly proud to begin my week celebrating the ribbon-cutting of the Rising Oaks model home, marking a significant milestone for the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity. This development, located in Terrytown on the West Bank, will bring 153 new affordable homes to our community, and greatly enhance the economic landscape of Jefferson Parish. These homes are not only energy-efficient, meeting Energy Star standards, but are also built to withstand 150 mph winds, ensuring durability and sustainability for generations to come. Special thanks to Jefferson Parish Councilman Marion Edwards for his unwavering support of this project. His leadership has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. I also want to extend my gratitude to Commissioner Eric Skrmetta for attending the ceremony and recognizing the vital economic impact Rising Oaks will have on our community. It was great to see my longtime friend, Rich Collins of Imagination Movers, who continues to be a strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity.
