Part of what makes our home dedications so heartwarming is all of the community members who come together to support and celebrate our homebuyers. Anne Marie Francis of the Cumming Sunset Quilters has been donating quilts to our homeowners for several years. Their quilts add a warm touch to our homebuyers' new homes. Saint Brigid has shown us tremendous generosity over the years in the form of both funds and volunteers. Every year, they host a fundraiser where parishioners can buy a puzzle piece that makes up a portrait of the family. We are grateful for Greenworks providing new tools to all of our partner families, and to Capital City Home Loans, LLC for partnering with us to originate and close our home loans. An acquaintance told me about Habitat for Humanity, so I volunteered with my two oldest daughters last April. My girls are my life, the reason I am fighting. My hope was to finally be able to afford and own our own home, a place of stability, a place we could live in and subside in. God has always been our strength. At our Awareness Event yesterday, Amber Jones shared her testimony of being a pregnant woman without a home, to becoming a Habitat Homeowner and proud mother of a son who is thriving. Amber Jones, like many of our homeowners, has endured many challenges in life. Her story is one of resilience, courage, self-advocacy, and determination. When she first applied for a Habitat home, she was denied on account of not having her financials in order. But she did not give up. She immediately went to work on fixing her financials, finding a stable job that would support her, and organizing her life. She applied a second time, and with much celebration, was welcomed into the Homeownership program. "Habitat for Humanity, you gave me hope to walk into this amazing opportunity - to break generational curses and change the narrative of my legacy. My home represents the foundation of Christ, and the body of unity." Thank you, Amber, for sharing your story and for having the courage to apply twice. We are so grateful you are part of our family.
