This Friday at The Architect's Newspaper's Facades+ LA conference, Habitat Horticulture founder and principal David Brenner will be presenting in a workshop focused how living walls are transforming urban architecture, alongside RIOS Architecture, Inc studio director Sabina Cheng. Using 11755 Wilshire Blvd as a case study, attendees will learn how this once-mundane 1980s office building has been dramatically reimagined into a vibrant urban gateway. The workshop will examine the numerous advantages of living wall facades, from cooling building temperatures and boosting urban biodiversity to improving pedestrian experiences and redefining what's possible in design. Meet our new exterior living wall at The Lair, Berkeley’s newest apartment complex! This design features swaths of Philodendron, Portulacaria arfa, Plectranthus ciliatus, and Asparagus fern. Heuchera and Graptoveria add splashes of color among the green. Just inside the entryway doors, the living wall continues, incorporating even more species.
