关于我们
By joining together as neighbors, we can change the future of families in need and give their children a fair chance for a life of hope. Your Smith County Habitat is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing low income working families the hope and transforming experience of home ownership. Smith County Habitat for Humanity offers this dream to those who would otherwise not be able to afford a home of their own. The new home owners help to build the house alongside many dedicated volunteers in the community. Habitat sells the house to the home owner at cost and finances the mortgage at zero interest.

We were blessed with an amazing celebration yesterday, as we marked a huge milestone - 35 years of service! ?? We're so grateful for every volunteer, donor, advocate, and friend that celebrate and support the mission of Habitat! Thank you to our friend and Board Member, Michelle Taylor, for sharing her very moving story about becoming a Habitat homeowner many years ago, and how it shaped her family's future.

On March second, our CEO, Mary Alice Guidry, had the pleasure of serving on a panel of distinguished female leaders at the Second Annual World Changing Women Leadership Night Out in celebration of Women's History Month. The event was organized by Smith County Habitat Board Member, LaRhonda Hamilton. “Women’s History Month is so very important and means so much to me because women are big contributors to our history. Women have helped mold our country and have fought so hard for women’s rights,” she said. We're so proud of all the ladies involved, but especially those serving side-by-side through Habitat for Humanity of Smith County!

Please join us for a special screening of UnCharitable – a documentary based on the book, UnCharitable, by Dan Pallotta, who delivered one of the most talked-about TED talks of all time. What if charity could be transformed from a gesture to an answer— to solving the world’s greatest problems? What if everything we’ve been taught about charitable giving is wrong? What if it’s undermining the very causes, we love the most? Uncharitable is a one-of-a-kind movie that shows how our charitable traditions and prejudices have suffocated the charitable sector and prevented it from leading the charge to truly change the world. We believe this documentary is truly enlightening and eye-opening for anyone, and especially those interested in, or currently investing in our community through nonprofits and for-profits. You may purchase your tickets and view Dan Pallotta’s viral 15-minute TED Talk here:?https://lnkd.in/g-rUH3Zd Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the program begins at 7:00PM. Refreshments will be provided.
