  • 8 days of hammering, shoveling, measuring, cutting & painting! ?? We have a house! ?? We are so grateful to be able to dedicate the 20th annual LSU Greek Build, which is the 37th Habitat home built and sponsored by the LSU sororities & fraternities! We had such an amazing week with every single student who came out to work so hard to make our Habitat homeowner's dreams come true. Huge thank you to Greek Week Leaders Payton & Addie! Y'all are the BEST! Until next year! ?????? #geauxgreek See our Habitat Facebook page for pics from the entire week: @batonrougehabitat

  • The 20th annual LSU Greek Week Build kicks off this Sunday! In 2004, the leaders in the LSU Greek community decided that Greek Week should unite the community through a group service project, making the 2005 LSU Greek Build the first in the U.S. to partner a major university’s entire Greek (fraternity and sorority) community with a Habitat affiliate. ?? Since then, over 18,000 sorority and fraternity members have raised over $2 million and donated over 79,000 hours of service to build 36 Habitat homes with qualified, low-income families in Baton Rouge. The young adults work alongside the homeowner-partners to build the houses, learning firsthand about poverty, its effects, and the need for affordable housing. Most importantly, LSU Greek Life has helped 45 adults and 72 children live in safe and affordable housing. ???? Additional thanks to the William Edwin Montan Charitable Trust for granting over $150,000 to the LSU Greek Build since 2010! ?

  • A huge thank you to University United Methodist Church and The Wesley Center at LSU which provided fantastic volunteers on the build site on Saturday. The United Methodist Churches helped found our Habitat affiliate back in 1989, and have built over 40 homes in our community. Truly amazing! ???? We are grateful for the ongoing support of 6 local Methodist churches which have generously helped sponsor build days this spring: First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge, Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Jefferson United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge, La, University United Methodist Church, The Wesley Center at LSU, St. John's United Methodist Church.

  • What a wonderful afternoon surprise! Thank you to Sherry Herringshaw and the Wasted Women Bee and everyone at The Giving Quilt for their gift of 7 quilts which Mrs. Sherry kindly delivered today. These beautiful quilts will be given to Habitat homeowners when they purchase their new home as a beautiful housewarming gift ???? The Giving Quilt is a charitable organization that promotes the creation of quilts that provide comfort to children and adults, while fostering community connections and promoting creativity through the art of quilting. Organized in 2008, it has provided hundreds of quilts to non-profit agencies including Habitat.

  • Our incredible Board Chair, Liz Dyer, first got involved with Habitat for Humanity through LSU Greek Week Build back in spring of 2007 as a Tri-Delta! While she wasn’t heavily involved, she jumped at the chance to be part of something bigger—helping to build homes and strengthen our community. Her favorite part of every build? Meeting great people and working together to get the job done! ???? We’re grateful for her leadership and passion for Habitat’s mission. Want to make a difference for next month’s Greek Build? Help our future leaders by supporting the Greek Build! When you donate, select LSU Greek Build on the dropdown designated list. https://lnkd.in/g3Nm9HUz

  • Last Tuesday, we held the Partner Educational Series: Understanding Insurance Class—an essential and mandatory session designed to strengthen Partners’ understanding of Homeowners and Flood Insurances. A special thank you to Marissa Berteau, Family Services Committee Member and licensed insurance agent, for leading the class and sharing her invaluable expertise on the importance of securing proper insurance coverage for homes and properties. Marissa has been teaching this class since 2012, and we are truly grateful for her continued guidance and support. Additionally, we extend our thanks to Madison Young with Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro for arranging the donation of a delicious meal for our Habitat Partners to enjoy during the class!
