Today, on International Women's Day, we celebrate the incredible women who have contributed to the fight for equality and continue to empower communities worldwide. ???? At Habitat for Humanity of Chester County, one of the most empowering ways we celebrate women is through our Women Build program. This initiative goes far beyond hammers and nails—it’s about fostering an environment where women can take ownership of the building process, learn new skills, and be part of something truly transformative. Our Women Build program encourages women from all walks of life to get involved, build confidence, and make a lasting impact on families in need of affordable housing. In 2023 and 2024, we hosted three incredibly successful Women Builds, and we are so proud of all the women who came together to create change. For those interested in getting involved in future Women Builds, including one in May 2025, please reach out to Liz Price at?[email protected]. Today, we stand in solidarity with women everywhere—building stronger communities, brighter futures, and a more equitable world. Thank you to all the women who continue to support our mission and build a better tomorrow. This Women's History Month, we honor the incredible legacy of Rosalynn Carter, a true champion for affordable housing and humanitarian causes. Alongside her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, Rosalynn was?a driving force behind Habitat for Humanity’s global mission since 1984, helping families build brighter futures. As she once said, “A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be.” Her legacy lives on, inspiring?us to take action and make a difference in our communities. #WomensHistoryMonth #HabitatForHumanity #InspiringChange #RosalynnCarter

?? March is Women’s History Month, an annual observance to recognize and celebrate the integral contributions of women throughout history, which have shaped today’s society as we know it. Women have long been at the forefront of affordable housing advocacy, and their tireless efforts continue to inspire us every day. In celebration of their legacy, we recognize a few groundbreaking women who helped shape the affordable housing movement: ???Catherine Bauer (1905-1964): A pioneer in public housing advocacy, Bauer’s groundbreaking work, including her book?Modern Housing, led to historic federal housing legislation and the creation of affordable housing for low-income families across the U.S. ???Jane Jacobs (1916-2006): Renowned for her fight to preserve affordable, walkable urban communities, Jacobs' landmark work,?The Death and Life of Great American Cities, remains a guiding force in urban planning today. ???Patricia Roberts Harris (1924-1985): The first African American woman to serve as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Harris led with courage and determination in the battle against housing discrimination and served as a fierce advocate for civil rights. ???Rosalynn Carter (1927-2023): Alongside her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, Rosalynn played a pivotal role in the Habitat for Humanity mission, dedicating herself to building homes and raising awareness about affordable housing for those in need. Join us in honoring these historical trailblazers and empowering today’s leaders, who will continue to pave the way for gender parity and affordable housing for future generations!
