H2M had the opportunity to pack hygiene kits for teens at the The Safe Center LI. Along with?AIG Insurance, Bethpage Water District, and Insurance Professionals Association of Long Island (IPALI),?we aimed to allow these kids to freshen up no matter their environment. With school in full swing, we hope that all of the teens who received these bags are having a great beginning to their year! ? Thank you to the Safe Center for all of the dedicated and thoughtful work you provide to our communities.

Last night, H2M staff attended a summer happy hour hosted by the New York Section American Water Works Association (NYSAWWA) Metro Events Committee and NYWEA Metropolitan Chapter. The event was held at the beautiful NYC venue, The Frying Pan, along the water with a breathtaking sunset and skyline view. Chelsea Martinez is co-chair of the NYAWWA Metro Events committee and additional members that attended included Joseph Kocaj, P.E., Rob Michelotti,EIT,?Heather Evangelista, EIT, Anika Tabassum, EIT, and Stephan Ungar, E.I.T.. This was the committee’s second year holding this event at the venue.

On four separate occasions, Chuck Martello, P.E. LSRP, Senior Vice President and Parsippany Office Director, has had the privilege of serving as an H2M Mentor, most recently to one of our passionate Staff Engineers, Andrew Velez. When asked to distill his experience into three words, Chuck said, “inspiring, fulfilling, and highly rewarding.” “Before entering H2M’s Mentorship Program, I had experience coaching my children’s sports teams. There is such a strong sense of fulfillment when helping someone master a technique and gain that confidence to take the next step. Coaching and mentoring both share the same rewarding outcome: getting to witness an individual’s path to growth.” Chuck reflected on the importance of experiencing a mentor during the early stages of a career. “I think back to my own early days at H2M, anxious to prove my worth and contribute meaningfully to a large organization. Many colleagues kindly took it upon themselves to guide me and shape my career. As a result, I see mentoring as a way to honor their investment in me by sharing experiences and knowledge with staff like Andrew.” He continued, “Although I was the mentor in this situation, Andrew was a source of motivation to me. Andrew’s courage in relocating over 1,000 miles to a new city, while leaving close friends and family for an opportunity to join H2M, inspired me to keep pushing forward when challenges present themselves in my current role.” This strategic pairing not only had a lasting effect on Andrew, but it opened Chuck up to different perspectives, reinforcing both of their commitments to the growth process and improving our organization. #Growthmindset #Mentor #Mentee #H2Mmentorship
