H2E attended the annual SME MINEXCHANGE Conference in Denver, Colorado this year! Doug and Harrison had an amazing time meeting with Clients, Vendors and Industry Peers. The exhibits, classes and presentations were full of useful information! H2E is proud to support the mining industry and its partners.?

Jackie Uhling, Automation and Controls Engineer in our Liberty Lake, Washington office, came to H2E straight from the University of Idaho nearly four years ago with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Hailing from Lewiston, Idaho Jackie always knew she would be an engineer due to her natural affinity for problem solving and enjoyment of math. She decided on electrical engineering after doing wiring on her house with her family. Jackie is known for her love of automation, constantly researching technologies and processes in the industry. Having worked on both the Power and Automation & Controls teams initially, she now claims that “Automation is way more interesting; I like how involved in the processes we work on it is. There are a wide range of things you can learn and do in automation, all of them are interesting.” This attitude has fueled Jackie’s ambition to make her team the most technically advanced in the office, starting her own internal competition for Staff level engineers designed to bolster their engineering awareness and knowledge through challenges she issues. The dedication that Jackie shows to the quality of her work is a clear embodiment of H2E’s values. She claims that working on something difficult or nearly impossible to solve and then overcoming it is the best part of the job. According to her, “I’ve been brought a lot of joy by this job and learned passion for engineering and solving problems.” Through this mentality Jackie strives to learn and be better on every project, every day. With the achievement of her PE exam, the career goal of becoming a Fellow Engineer and the drive to never be outworked, Jackie’s value and career trajectory continue to escalate. Jackie also mentioned how appreciative she is of the team and mentors she has found at H2E. In her personal time Jackie enjoys camping, snowboarding, and fishing with family and friends. She is well known around the office for her desire to always win, whether it’s the companies Chilli Cook-Off, Team Challenges, or even work done in a week, Jackie always endeavors to be first in the rankings. We are very privileged to have Jackie on our team!

Welcome our newest Staff Engineer, Katelyn Feir! She is joining us from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Originally from Bremerton, she will be working out of our Liberty Lake office. We are excited to have her on the team!

It is National Engineers Week, a time to celebrate the achievements of engineers who have contributed to solving the worlds problems. One of H2E's three core values is Excellence, and this week affords us the perfect opportunity to say thank you to our Engineers who exhibit their talent, ability to overcome challenges and their drive to achieve Excellence. Jake Gauche, Senior Designer and Lead of the Drafting and Design team, has been making a positive impact at H2E for over 13 years! Jake decided to go into the design field because of a 3D modeling class he took in high school using SolidWorks and encouragement from his highly supportive parents. On the topic of design Jake said, “It’s fun to translate concepts onto paper, so that their design feasibility and quality can be audited to make sure it actually works before construction, a lot of engineering is theory-based, but my team makes the concepts into reality”. According to Jake visualization during a build is a key aspect to how he works. Commissioning projects into reality is Jake’s favorite part of the job as it takes him into the field, “The expectations we set in the field make H2E special, my team is professional, personable and well equipped which serves in our success at building and continuing relationships with clients” this allows him to see many new regions around the country while building and maintaining collaborative relationships in multiple industries. Jake’s career with H2E began directly after his college graduation with an AAS degree in CAD Drafting from Spokane Community College, when a friend told him about the culture of the company and encouraged him to apply. Now, Jake is a leader in the corporation actively contributing to the process, “I want to do the best that I am capable of and produce the highest quality work, we do everything to our quality system standard, so we don’t have to worry about failure, just excellence”. This way of thinking allows Jake to be successful leading any kind of project H2E engages. Jake is well known around the office for his Mariners Baseball shrine and accompanying opinions on the sports franchise. Outside of the office Jake enjoys outdoorsmanship including camping, boating, golfing and hiking with his wonderful wife and two sons. When asked about the best part of coming to work every day, Jake expressed that he enjoys seeing some of his best friends every day and having meaningful and intellectual conversations with his coworkers. We are very privileged to have Jake on our team!
