  • Join us for this month’s She Matters Webinar, presented by the Black Girls Equity Alliance: Too often, child welfare systems focus on reporting rather than providing families with the resources they need. The vast majority of CPS hotline calls are not deemed appropriate for investigation, and even fewer result in open cases. This webinar will highlight the importance of connecting children and families with appropriate support before making potentially harmful hotline calls. Join local and national child welfare leaders as we discuss: Identifying potential biases in decision-making Locating local resources for children and families Advocacy efforts to change mandated reporting laws Panelists: ?? Dr. Rikell Ford, Allegheny County CYF ?? Eunice Stover, Allegheny County CYF ?? Shereen White, Children's Rights ?? Sara Nevels, Gwen's Girls This session is essential for social workers, educators, law enforcement officers, child welfare professionals, and anyone committed to child and family well-being. RSVP now to receive the Zoom link! Register Now: https://lnkd.in/eC6Qbjmr

  • In honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, we hosted a powerful webinar discussing the realities of teen dating violence and human trafficking. The session featured segments from the Black Girls Advocacy & Leadership Alliance (BGALA) podcast, where teens answered critical questions like: Why do young people stay in unhealthy relationships? Why don’t they tell their parents? How do they define teen dating violence and human trafficking in their own words? This discussion provided insight into how we can better support and educate young people on recognizing and addressing these issues.
